One of our prestigious clients’ who is Sri Lanka’s largest and No – 1 company for hardware is looking for Operation Manager to work in their Colombo office immediately.
Job Brief
Operation manager is to plan, direct and coordinate all workshops’ operation. You will be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies.
Responsibilities
Under take range of management duties associated with the running of the workshop and production activities.
1. Workshop Management
- Ensure a supportive environment and a workplace that challenges, inspires and creates the condition conducive to work.
- Day to day management of workshop staffs, assist in the planning, designing and delivering products and solutions.
- Implement machinery layouts according to proper work sequence schedule.
- Maintenance of all glass, wood, stainless steel working machinery, tools &equipment, fixing and similar goods with in a budget.
- Provide a well-run and maintained workshop, including building maintenance and other issues in relation to the management of the workshop.
- Establish and implement an effective housekeeping and workshop management systems such as stock control, 5s lean & cost management.
- Source and arrange for supply of materials and cost effective use equipment in the workplace.
- Establish and maintain clear systems for receipt and dispatch of goods.
2. Sales, Marketing & Customer Service
- Ensure all the customer calls are attended and given right solution for the inquiries.
- Implementation of an ERP solution that can help on speeding up the functions.
- Improves product marketability and profitability by researching, identifying and capitalizing on market opportunities; coordinating new product development especially on wood working department.
- Plan and implement product marketing strategies including advertising campaigns and sales promotions.
- Plan and direct sales activities such as sales promotions, coordinating with other department heads as required.
- Identifies marketing opportunities by identifying customer requirements; defining market, competitor’s share, and competitor’s strength and weaknesses; forecasting project business; establish target market share.
- Handle complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Identify and assess customer’s needs to achieve satisfaction.
3. Human Resource
- Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures for maximize output, ensures the changes in current drawbacks in policies.
- Plan the use of human resources.
- Organize recruitment and placement of required staff in support with HRM.
- Establish the organizational structure related to workshop.
- Delegate tasks and account abilities.
- Establish work schedules.
- Supervise staff, monitor and evaluate performance and implement a performance based salary structure, recognition and rewards.
- Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals.
- Monitor adhere to rules, regulations and procedures.
4. Health & Safety
- Ensure a safe working environment by implementing Health and safety policy, systems and procedures.
- Develop and deliver work methods and standards that will ensure health and safety legislation is compiled with.
- Ensure all the persons are aware of safety procedures and embed a strong organizational culture – seeking and develop a positive attitude to health and safety among staffs.
- Establish that all equipment, machinery and substances used are suitable for the task and are kept in good working condition.
- Provide adequate training, information, instruction and supervision to ensure that work is conducted safely.
- Take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and safety arising within the workshop.
5. Supervision
- To ensure that all staffs in the workshop have adequate knowledge in their assigned tasks.
- To oversee the production of a range of products that can be made with the involvement of showroom managers.
- To be proactive and encouraging in giving staffs opportunities for personal development skills acquisition.
6. Production
- Develop a team for research and development for new emerging ideas and designs.
- Coordinate and monitor the work in various departments involved in production, warehousing, pricing and distribution of goods.
- Manage quality issues in all aspects of production, workshop operations specially when out bounding the products.
- Oversee production of orders and ensure the accuracy and timely completion.
7. General Duties
- Develop and maintain accurate records pertinent to the running of an efficient department.
- Undertake any other duties as consistent with the post
- Support the top management in the overall management and development of production activities and services.
- Ensure the department is active in the cost effective use of resources.
- Protects organization value by keeping information confidential.
8. Finance and Cost Management
- Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction.
- Utilize financial data to improve profitability.
- Prepare and control operational budgets.
- Control Inventory.
- Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being.
9. Analyzing and Documentation
- Ensure all the sales and marketing, HR, Finance and production that involved in the operations are analysed and documented.
